As many of you already know, I have set some high goals for my lung function in the coming months. I'm shooting for it to be back up to 60% by February 20 which is my next clinic appointment. Then, three months later, at my next clinic appointment, I will hopefully be at 70%. To meet those goals, I will be doing everything in my power to help my PFT numbers go up. I will be staying compliant with my treatments and working out regularly. I have already signed up for two 5K's this spring.
These goals and this plan to reach them is going to be very difficult for me. I have always had a hard time staying completely compliant and staying motivated to workout. Luckily, I am surrounded by people who want to see me succeed. I've started running/walking with a couple of people from work, and my husband is always getting everything ready for my breathing treatments. That way, all I have to do is the treatment. :) My friends and family are always checking on me and making sure that I'm taking care of myself.

These are notes that a co-worker wrote reminding me to take care of myself. They are on my work laptop so that I see them everyday. :) |

I'm so thankful for those people who care so much about me!
Okay, that's it! You are inspiring me to set a PFT goal too. I am shooting for 55% and being more compliant with exercise. Glad you have so many people that support and help you!! Maybe I can get my husband to set up my nebs too...he will have to learn which is which first :p
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to set a goal! It makes it like a competition! :) I had to do some training with my husband too, but he got the hang of it pretty quickly.
DeleteWe might be keeping you accountable but you are truly our inspiration!!! We love you to pieces and want you to be around a LONG time and Auntie Michele wants a little miracle of your own in your near future!! Love ya sister!
ReplyDeleteKayla, this is great! I am so glad you are determined to kick some CF butt. Just remember that PFT is just a number and I know we all want our PFT to go up. I feel that if you feel good and have no symptoms that is more than 75% of the battle with this disease. I know you will do great and you WILL see that PFT number rise. There is no doubt in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI love those sticky notes on your laptop!!! I too have some great co workers that really lay into me about taking care of myself. I never knew I would have these people in my life. Just remind them how much they mean to you bc they mean the world to me :)
Take care and keep on fighting cyster!!!
